Taking Inventory

2015 is shaping up to be a big year.  New, and yet same, challenges at work.  Going to Quiltcon in February.  CWCCA National Specialty coming to Chattanooga in May.  New Suber arriving in July.

And doing something I swore I would never do -  I am going to build a house - on Whippoorwill - hence the name of this blog.  The Mockingbird pack is going to live on Whippoorwill on top of a mountain.

There will be a room just for sewing, with lots of windows and room for a design wall and storage for my stash.  What I do not want to move to my new sewing room are the unfinished projects that I have hidden under the bed and in project boxes.

Today I did inventory.  Here are my UFOs in no particular order:

1.  A few years back I signed up for a quilt shop's "Charming Solids" club where every month they sent two charm packs and 6 fat eighths of coordinated solids.  This is a Disappearing Nine-patch quilt top made from one of those packs.  This will probably be a baby quilt for the new Suber baby this year.

 2.  Another Charming Solids project quilt top - playing around with different blocks.

3.  The most expensive quilt to date.  Started out as a jelly roll race on the first evening of a quilt retreat.   My machine jammed up, so I went out the next day and bought a new machine so I would have something to sew with.

I had been wanting to hand quilt another project using perle cotton and big stitches - I think this is a good candidate.  I had some little charm packs in the same pattern, so I made little hexie combos and fused around the borders.

4.  I have been saving the unused ribbons from the Obedience Club of Chattanooga trials, and used my serger to start this piece for the wall hanging for the club.  Still have a stack of ribbons - just need to decide how to finish up.  Also have a box full of ribbons my pack has won that I want to do something with someday as well.

5.  Another Charming Solids quilt top.  Faux flying geese.

6.  Left over charms from #5 improv. Could be back for #5 or a quilt on its own.

7.  I took a class in Paducah with Gwen Marston and made the cute baskets.  Want to do a quilt full of them!

8. Two cuddle quilt tops for Choo Choo guild charity project.  Should have finished ages ago.

9.  Made fabric using little hexies and started making these little blocks.  Not sure what to do next.

10. Took Denyse Schmidt's Pure Improv class.  Want to finish this as a napping quilt.

11.  Another Charming Solid project.  Quick little blocks - would make a cute girly quilt.

12.  Scrap stash busters blocks.  Just started last week trying to use up some scraps.

13.  Cotton and Steel prints and solids drunkard's path variation.

14.  2014 Chattanooga MQG Team Janet Charity quilt.  I volunteered to quilt - so I guess I ought to get to work on it.  I also made some blocks like these out of my own scraps which I guess should be in this inventory as well.

15.  Magic block technique and used perle cotton to imitate cathedral window pattern.  Another one to hand quilt.  Maybe a table topper.  Another Charming Solids pack.

16.  2014 Block of the Month project using Jaybird rulers.  Pattern name is "Park Bench."  Think mine will be called "Porch Swing" and looking forward to using it on one of my Whippoorwill porches.  Currently on the Sweet Sixteen.

17.  My mother made this quilt for my nephew when he graduated from high school almost 20 years ago.  He has loved it to death.  I told him I would try to do something to it to give it a new life, but haven't come up with a plan yet.

18.  Started this one long time ago -  to give an idea, I bought all the fabric at Lavender Lime.  It is a freebie Amy Butler pattern, a foundation pieced string quilt with appliqued medallions.  Think it will be a summer quilt - no batting - with the muslin foundation, it's already heavy.  BONUS:  When I opened this bag, I found another 100 or so ribbons for #4 above.  Wheee!

OK - that's all.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Stay tuned for progress.
